If i take the claws off of Crayfish, would it be okay for turts?

I've heard that crayfish can be related to shell rot. Not quite sure how that works. I gave my res one once and shortly afterwards she had shell problems. I'd avoid it.

Some carry a bacteria that's been implicated in shell rot.
