Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So i really think that my turtles need more calcium in their diet - -
I bought a "Turtle Bone" brand Cuttle bone and they push it around with their heads for a while and then will never touch it again - - I tried getting a flavored one from the Bird section too and they wont eat that either -

I have tried gut loaded crickets and nither of my turtles will eat the crickets - they kind of play with it like a cat and then push it in the water and watch it drown.

Any other ways to get more calcium in their diets?

You can try get a powdered calcium supplement like Rep-Cal and coating moistened pellets in it and letting it dry completely.

I find that Sylar eats more cullebone (and veggies) if I put it in a veggie clip so it doesn't move as much when he tries to eat it.

I agree with imderanged - Izzy wouldn't eat them until I anchored them down with a clip.

I found one at PetCo - could NOT find one at wal-mart - and it is attached to a suction cup, she loves having it. I have it about an inch or 2 below water level.

I think she likes chasing the cuttlebone, but she won't eat veggies that way.

I use the goldfish vacation feeders, they are mostly calcium anyways. Since they have bits of krill in them they smell like krill, it is the only calcium Crush will touch.
