I know at the stage Shorty and Zeuter are at now that I should only feed them every other day and about as much as will fit in their heads but they seem starving everytime I feed them. They can eat half a bottle of pellets in one go (one bottle of the pellets I buy is .9 oz. or 25.5 g). They will go absolutely NUTS when I enter the room most days... even after they have been fed. I fed them tonight... quite a bit and even after they were looking on the bottom for food and then kept going nuts in their tank when I took them out of their feeding tub. They were swimming frantically at whatever side of the tank I'm on and trying to climb up the wall. They even go up on the dock and try to climb up lol. What should I do?

As best I can understand the directions for feeding according to this information is as follows.

Everyother day feel pellets, the amount that would fit in their head if it were hollow (not including the neck)

But everyday they should get veggies.

I do this with my Sisqo. He is a master in the art of begging (seeing as how he's 10 years old). So he will still beg even if I have just fed him.

Usually I do a Mon Wed Fri Sun pellets
then Tues Thurs and Sat I feed his veggies.

Then the next week it will be opposite.
Sisqo really loves his carrots. He doesn't care for leafy greens though.

There's a whole list of things they should/can eat. I've tried some. He cares for some and not so much with others.

I hope I helped you out a bit.
In short, I would feed veggies on the days you don't feel pellets.

Some ways to lessen your guilt and maybe their begging:

Feed half a headful of pellets daily, that way it's like feeding every other day.

Feed pellets in the morning and veggies in the evening, to space out their meals.

Visit the tank more often than just when you are feeding, that way you only become associated with food at certain times.

Thanks :D

The tank gets visited A LOT... it's in our living room. We only have a small apartment at the moment so it's the only place we have room for it. So they see us everyday all the time. They just beg endlessly
