Feeding and Nutrition :: Do you feed guppies?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Post Posted: Tue Apr 29, 2008 10:16 am   Do you feed guppies?

We put 3 guppies in with Carlos. One we think got eatten but we still have 2 more in he just can't seem to catch. They are great at hiding. Now should we start feeding the guppies? My dad seems to think you don't have to. It's been two weeks. I don't want them to get sick, all though they look fine to me.
Thanks for any info. :D

I've never fed any of my feeder fish and they live/breed just fine :-) Go ahead and feed them if you're one of those people that'll feel bad if you dont ;-)

I think I'll just leave them be. They look fine.
I think Carlos has decided to be friends with the guppies since he can't catch them, lol!

I didn't feed my Rosie Red that lasted three weeks in my tank. He eagerly ate up the bits off the bottom of the tank. But don't get too attached, because one day, <gulp> they'll be gone!

I have to feed my fish since they are too big and wayy to fast for the turtles to catch.

The most aggressive animal in my tank is not a turtle, but a fish.

If you don't feed the guppies they'll keep your tank cleaner. Although if they keep on surviving I would feed them every so often since I doubt they can live on a diet of turtle poo.

No kidding, Sisqo had the same female guppy living with him for three years! He would not eat her, she used to swim right beside him. I know he could have caught her if he wanted. Finally, after 3 years, oneday she just went missing.

I don't feed guppies anymore though. They're entirely too small for him with too many places to hide where he can't reach. I feed Rosy Reds, when I can, and not often of course. He loves them.

I have fed gold fish before, only one or two at a time and probably about once every 2 months, I know they're bad for him.

I've got eight guppies, three goldfish and two pleco's in with Herc. There used to be another gold but last week I noticed it had disappeared....

Initially they all ate off of Herc's scraps but now that the goldfish are bigger (really big) I feed them medium-sized floating goldfish pellets. Fittingly, Herc likes to eat those too (oh how the tables have turned).

This combination seems to do an amazing job of keeping the tank clean of waste food and algae.

I dont becuse they defintly will become food. Once they die the turtles will eat them. And I dont want them to create more of a mess. I like LESS of a mess.
