Why is sugar so bad for your turtle. Makes them fat? Hyper? Diabetes?

Sugar is high in carbs & can make your turtle fat. If they are too fat, they can't breathe properly because the fat fills up the body cavity inside the shell which pushes on the lungs.

Once they get fat, it is very hard for them to lose this weight.

Too much sugar encourages yeast infections.

ohhhhhhhh. im scared of that so i wont leave my turtle with any sources of sugar. thx and thats pretty useful even though i never thought about feeding my turtles sugar. seems crazy but i just need to think of what turtles should eat and what not to buy before i give it to my turtles
im a true slacker but when it comes to family, my slacking mood becomes a black force 24/7

pets: 2 red eared sliders

Sometimes it's hard to remember that even some fresh fruit and vegetables contain sugar. For example, carrots and strawberries are sweet and contain sugar, so while it's very good to feed some of them to your turtles, you shouldn't feed them too much.
