Feeding and Nutrition :: How much shrimp?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Well, a quick scan of the nearly 800 posts containing "shrimp" told me that feeding cooked, cocktail shrimp as a treat is fine.

However, I'm wondering how much for an adult RES (if it's once every couple of months or so). Last time, I gave them half a shrimp each (along with veggies, of course!). Is half a shrimp a suitable amount? Or should they be lucky turts and get a whole shrimp each next time? A whole shrimp is about "head size".

I give Leo one small cooked shrimp on "special" occasions, which amounts to about two shrimp per year.

Sounds good. Usually we have those shrimp rings in the holiday season, and in the summer. So that works out nicely for 2 a year :D
Thanks guys!

Yes, you can give the freeze dried shrimp you buy from the petstore as a treat.
I was talking about the frozen cocktail shrimp that are generally fed to humans ;)

Spots loves the frozen cocktail shrimp (thawed of course) so much he tends to swallow them whole. He goes nuts over them. I'm afraid he would choke on a whole one, so now I cut it into bite sized pieces before putting it in. Not as much fun, but safer.
