My tank has been a wreck since I got my baby RES. It seems that my filter can not put up with all the waste that my babies are making when they eat, so I bought them a container to eat in. I put them in there this morning and they seem to be freaking out. They are swimming agianst the side trying to get out as the get me typing, if I'm quiet they are ok. I put some floating sticks in there with them but the look up at me like I'm crazy if I think they are going to eat in there. I don't want to keep having to clean the tank every 3 days, but can't afford to get an other filter or bigger set up for them. Any idea how to make eatting easier for them in the new container? Any Suggetions would be great. Once a every other week they get to have 4 roises in there tank also. They had those last night around 6pm.

Try bribing them with tuna or shrimp mixed in with there normal food. Or you can soak there food in tuna juice. After a few days of not eating they will more than likely come around too eating in a different contianer.

Yes - stick with it! Lik Vtolds said, try soaking those pellets in tuna juice. Once they get used to the separate container they will be ok. Leave them alone so they can have some privacy while they eat - they may be too nervous to eat in front of you. If you've got more than one turtle, it would be best if you can feed them separately so you can be sure one of them isn't hogging all the food.

Is the feeding container clear or colored? Almost all of the feeding containers I've seen online seem to be a colored container, that way they can't see out and freak out that they are trapped. I think if they can't see out, they will be calmer. Also, feeding them the fish in the tank could be part of your yucky tank problem.

I'm going to soak there food in tuna juice tonight when I get home from work and try the it again. I'm also going to get them a different container that isn't clear. It didn't dawn on me that they do like to be alone when they eat. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it goes.

I suggest that you leave them in the feeding container longer and keep it warm. Also try and feed them by hand. They will shy away at first but will warm up after a few days when they get hungry.

If I am next to mine while he in the container he freaks. I have to leave him alone. Normally about 30 minutes(gives him time to poop too!!).
