So, I bought my turtle from China Town, so i obviously don't know how old he could be. I really think he must have been about a month though maybe when I got him, which was in September. Since I got him, his shell was always raised slightly higher than my other turtles, which i read in a previous post that its normal for baby res. But also, they told me I may be feeding my turtle too much because of his growth rate. He's about 2 inches in length and i was feeding him about 3 pellets in the morning and 3 at night. Now im trying to feed him lettuce and other veggies but he wont take it. I read in the nutrition section though too that baby res should get pellets every day. Should I give him about 2 pellets every day? I'm guessing 3 or 4 could fit into his head. I don't want to overdo it, but at the same time I'm having no luck with any veggies. He's always searching the bottom of the tank for food now too! It's so sad lol.

Dan-la Your turtle is still near a hatching and twice a day is okay at this time. Soon you will need to start feeding every other day. As far as your veggies try and not feeding him until he does eat them. It may take a day or two, but he will come around and then start giving him some on your off days. Good Luck!

A guide: as many pellets as would fit into his head (this you know). Feed once daily up to around a year of age, depending on how he's growing. After that pellets every other day. You can (and it's good to) offer some veggies or aquatic plants daily, even on days when you give the pellets.

Da-la -- Yes! Even on the days you feed them the pellets you can feed them veggies. just don't over feed them.
