Feeding and Nutrition :: How do you offer cuttlebone?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I bought some cuttlebone and was wondering how you guys offer it to your turtles?

I dropped a piece in there but it just floated at the surface and my turtle had no interest in it.

So do you guys make it sink somehow? or just leave it floating and eventually your turtle goes up to it and nibbles it? :?:

it floats, no way to make it sink. They have a natural taste for it I guess they crave the Calcium when they need the calcium.

I sometimes use a veggie clip, they really like to eat from it.

Mine don't like the large chunks as much as the small bite-sized pieces. I will keep a big piece clipped to the edge for nibbling and it gets used sometimes, but when I break up tiny bites they really chow down! I hand-feed the guys who will accept it, and toss in bites for the others.

Yippee.

I had offered it to him the other day and he had no interest. I offered it again just now and he took a few whacks at it and ate some!

Thanks guys for the responses!
