Yeah, I when I wrote this I realized how much protein I was giving him. Around the time that I cut down on the chicken, he actually started eating lettuce! I'm still really excited about how much he loves lettuce now. When I always gave him chicken, he never at his veggies. Now he eats anything that looks edible (even his poop, gross I know).

Wednesday: Pellets, lettuce, chicken
Thursday: Pellets, lettuce, chicken

Saturday: Pellets, lettuce, chicken

I feed him 8 ReptoMin Baby pellets which is about the size of his head. I also feed him a piece of lettuce (that he never eats), and a small peice of chicken.

I changed his diet, and he has grown more, so this is his new feeding list:

Turtle Age (Aprox): 2 months
Turtle Size (SCL): 1 3/4"
Turtle habitat (indoor/outdoor) Indoor

Sunday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Monday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Tuesday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Wednesday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Thursday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Friday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce
Saturday: 8 Pellets, Lettuce

Treats (and frequency)
I haven't really gotten him any treats yet, except for when I tried to feed him a worm (that he didn't like), so does anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to give him fish because I can't get over the fact that it might have parasites and my mom probably wouldn't let me take him to a vet if he got sick. :(

I guess I could add my list, lol.
One Male Rio Grande RES, 2-1/2 yrs old, 4 in.
Indoor setup/outside setup on warm days.

GREENS
Monday-Sunday: Alternate between Red Leaf, Green Leaf, Romaine Lettuce, Turnip Leafs and Dandelion Leafs (when in season). Once a week a baby carrot slice.

Aquatic plants: Amazon swords, hornwort, duckweed, Anacharis (when I buy them).

No fruit tried yet.

Pellets: 3 each day (Reptomin and now a new addition, Omega One pellets)

Cuttlebone for extra calcium when he wants it.

Treats
Insects: Cockroach very rarely from the backyard (no pesticides or weed chemicals), Crickets when found from the same place.

Tank: Snails, Flathead Minnows, Guppies- He eats when he wants (which isn't very often, infact the guppy and snail population is growing, minnow poulation is staying consistent).

Tropical fish flakes when I feed the fish.

The main key here is variety for the most in nutrition, notice his protien intake is on the lighter side now that he is older

When feeding fruits and veggies does anything need to be chopped or shredded or do you just toss stuff in the tank?

I usually shred carrots, but I wash lettuce and remove the stem before I put it into the tank. If there is a veggie or treat that is particularly messy, I would use a separate container.

I just toss the lettuce in there and they just tear away at it, I grate the carrots though.

My turtle is 4 years and 4 months old and around 5,5 inches. It eats 11 reptomin sticks every other day and inbetween various greens. It also eats cutlebone and a vitamin supplement for turtles. I am thinking to switch to 6 reptomin sticks every other day and offering various greens daily (and of course keep offering the vitamins and cuttlebone). Is it ok? Or i am going to offer to little protein?

11 sticks every other day is fine, I think most people actually use a little bit more.

Jakey:

Turtle Age (Aprox) 11 months
Turtle Size (SCL) 1.8 inches
Turtle habitat (indoor/outdoor) indoor - 20 gallon long with a painted turtle buddy (they get along and i feed them separately)

Sunday romaine lettuce and carrots with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick
Monday romaine lettuce and banana with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick
Tuesday carrots and apple with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick
Wednesday papaya and dandelion leaves with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick (i have to make tiny sushis: pellets wrapped with 2mm X 4mm pieces of dandelion leaves because he spits out dandelion leaves)
Thursday romaine lettuce and carrots with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick
Friday romaine lettuce and carrots and banana with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick
Saturday apple and carrots with one half Zoomeds aquatic turtle food and one reptomin floating stick

Treats (and frequency) sometimes i feed him parts of crickets that my painted turtle Hunter left uneaten (Hunter sometimes doesn't eat the heads) or left over fruits and veggies that Hunter didn't eat.

*I don't keep a strict diet, but i always feed Jakey at least kind of vegetable as a staple before i give him the pellets so that he eats the veggies (he's very picky and will almost always spit back out any veggies i give him after pellets). sometimes, i make him swim all over the tank after a pellet that i hold in my hand under water. he loves chasing it and snapping at my fingers :) rarely have i been bitten and he only does this in the water like a normal turtle, so it's all good. i handle him a lot too, and i let him bask in my hand and give him a treadmill workout (he doesn't scurry in fright, but walks). by always keeping him warm while he's in my hand, he's learned to enjoy the daily handling sessions. with hunter, he eats 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 pellets everyday as he's only about 2 months old. he also eats one big cricket or two tiny crickets (gut loaded of course) when i have them (up to three weeks per month)
