Another question I have...do you take your RES out and feed in another tank?

I've tried carrots and Crush never seems to like them, yet he seems to be a "normal" turtle but yes you have to shred them.
There is a purple lettuce and I am not sure if Crush eats them but he shreds them. And aquatic plants are good to introduce well for at least my plants.

Every time I tried to feed out of the tank, he would just sit in his shell. I feed him in his tank and clean it out completely every other week.

Ya, turtles always shred plants into pieces within a day or two. And yes he is probably eating it. If you want to provide nutritional aquatic plants, try these:

* Amazon Swords
* Anacharis*
* Duckweed*
* Frogbit
* Hornwort
* Nasturtium
* Pondweed
* Water Fern*
* Water Hyacinth*
* Water Lettuce
* Water Lily*
* Water Milfoil
* Water Starwort

*Highly recommended

This is from the main site.

As for veggies, my turts will eat pretty much anything, but they especially like carrots, tomatoes, green beans and zucchini.

Where do you get these aquatic plants? I can't seem to find them around here and anacharis is illegal here.

I have 2 RES that I've had for about 3 weeks so far and i finally have set a good feeding schedule for them, i think they are quite happy!

Turtle Age: i think maybe about a year or so...

Turtle Size: they are almost 4.5 in. long. (about how old does that make them?)

Turtle habitat: Indoor 40 gallon water tank

Sunday: a.m: about head size of Reptomin Pellets each p.m: red/green leaf lettuce with thin carrots strips

Monday: a.m: about head size of Reptomin Pellets each p.m: assortment of baby mixed greens (minus the spinach)

Tuesday: a.m: about head size of Reptomin pellets each p.m: green/red leaf lettuce and slices of steamed sweet potato

Wednesday: a.m: about head size of Reptomin pellets each p.m: green/red leaf lettuce and yellow squash, i pulled out the little seeds, i wasn't too sure about them...

Thursday: a.m: about a head size of Reptomin pellets each p.m: dandelion greens and left over sweet potato

Friday: a.m: head size pellets in the morning p.m: assortment of baby mixed greens and thin mango slices

this is what i gave them throughout this past week, I'm sure I'll vary things to change it up a bit.

Treats:

sometimes I've thrown in a few little pellets of ZooMed natural Aquatic turtle food, which came with the turtles. but it says its for hatchlings so i have been using it as a treat...

I'm still trying to wean them off the Reptomin to 3 days a week, but they've become such little beggars! and i can't help myself (':oops:') they've been swimming up the surface to "greet" me :D

and they are crazy for sweet potato, mango and apple slices!(what a sweet tooth!) they don't really chew, they sort of just devour it! Last week I gave them too much mango and apple, but I'm learning! I've also noticed that they prefer the baby greens and dandelion greens over the red/green leaf lettuce...I have to try radish greens... and blueberries!
oh! can you give them edamame beans? i'm wondering...

There's also some cuttlebone floating around, i hadn't seen them touch it till last nite!

This site has been such a tremendous help :) THANK YOU!

I've never posted my feeding schedule, so here it is, at least for now!

Turtle size = just under 4".
Turtle age = I've had him since the end of September 2007, I'm guessing he's about 9 months or a year old now.
Tank = 40 gallon breeder

Every morning, head-full of pellets. Every evening, some veggie or fruit I have on hand, leafy lettuce is the veggie at least half of the time, carrots, grapes, zucchini, blueberries. He loves his lettuce, though! Cuttlebone, about two head-sized pieces twice a week. Occasionally a freeze-dried cricket or a piece of cooked fish.

I feed them a headfull of pellets every day, that's pretty much it :(

Sometimes I give them Tetracichlid for a treat and if I have to leave them for more than one day I get some Anacharis or a few Rosy Reds...

Every once in a blue moon I might give them some lettuce or carrots...

Am I not feeding them properly? The vet said they should be fine like that...
