Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

alright, so everybody keeps telling me to feed him as much food that can fit into his head if it was hallow. so, he's only like two inches big, maybe 3 when he streches out for the "superbask". anyways....im pretty sure that there has been one or two people who have had a turtle this size, (do the size of RES turtle heads vary so much that nobody can tell me a specific answer?) so i am asking you 2. how much did u feed ur turtle when it was that small? like an actual number of reptomin baby pellets a day? im pretty sure im overfeeding him because i'm asking everybody, and ur all saying "yeah he's fat, so just feed him him as much as can fit into his head." ok, so how many is that? i dont want to be too wrong, i give him 10 pellets a day now, nothing more? does a turtle that's 2 inches big have a 10 pellet-sized head? i need all the specific help i can get, because i want nameless to live long and healthy....even if i dont. so thank you all so ver much, ive learned so much already, i want want to try and make sure im learning how to do it the right way....please help me :?

Hopefully someone else on here that has had a two inch turtle that was fed reptomin baby will respond. My Spot hasn't been two inches long for years and he never had reptomin baby so I'm not much help.

However, someone else on here recently had the same question and he (or she?) posted photos of the little turtle with his head extended with a pellet sitting on his nose. He had views from above and from the side. It was really easy to tell how many pellets that turtle should have been fed because the photos were good. Could you possibly do the same?

here's that other thread with the photos so you can see what I mean and what the responses were in that case. This little turtle is close to your turtle's size but a little smaller:

Hey, Safdar, I knew that but couldn't remember until I looked it up who exactly had posted that nice thread. I'll remember in the future!

my turts are 2" i have two . ifeed them about 6 to 8 reptomin pellets each in the morning when they were 1" to 1 1/2" they were smaller hatchling size pellets-- now i give them reptomin sticks wich are like double in size . give them about 4 or 5 each . now here is where my problem lies. my tank is a 180 gallons my 2" pastel is agressive comes to top tank right up to me knows he is getting fed while my other regular RES swims to bottom to hide.i put about 10 reptomin sticks in and my pastel goes to town. if i dont leave the room right away my other res won"t come out to eat. and my pastel will over eat. once i leave i watch from a distance and my res comes out to eat .i have about 12 to 14 minos in tank with them wich i think they ate 1 or 2. i also give them yardlys treats vegtable and fish mixture twice a week also one worm each once a week and about 2 crickets a week they do not eat vegies yet but i keep some anichris in tank wich i think they nibble on .i gut load the crickets with calcium cricket feed by fluckers and a cricket thirst quincher wich also has calcium in it .so turtles get some calcium that way. i put cuttle bone in tank they dont bother with it . i tried carrots boild them so they would be a little soft and cut to bite size peices they just sink to bottom they want no part of them . they eat well and i skip one day a week no food for now! seems to be working well i use to stress about feeeding them if they are eating right all the time . but you will figure it out and it will all fall into place. don't worry and good luck-- thats my little pastel in my avitar

If the pastel is more aggressive and is getting all the pellets, you can feed him in a separate bowl while you feed the shy little RES in the tank. Give him some privacy while he eats so he'll feel safe.
