Feeding Frozen Fish

Why is feeding frozen fish considered a negative?

My RES love frozen krill, shrimp, and silversides. Occasionally, I give them a little if I defrost too much for my African Clawed Frogs. I haven't noticed a problem. I know of at least one frozen turtle treat that contains a variety of vegetables and fish protein, blood worms etc... that is fairly highly recommeded that my turtles also love (San Francisco something). Why is that OK and the frozen fish etc.. not?

Because it contains too much protein. It's ok as a rare treat, though.

Should frozen fish be considered approximately equal to occasional meals of rosy reds, guppies, etc.... ?

Yep! But avoid feeding them ocean-water fish like anchovies and sardines and stuff. It contains a LOT of salt.

OK. Then I think I'm on safe ground. I don't give them frozen fish too often and never in the same week I gave them any live fish.

For myself, I tend not to pay much attention to the nutrition experts because the info is constantly changing. I eat everything, but in moderation. I make sure I get a good mix of vegetables, fruits, grains, low fat protein etc.... but that's not going to stop me from having a Whopper once in awhile. :D

I'm not much of "feeder fish" guy for my turtles. I use red wiggler worms now and then for live food and feed live fish rarely. I was under the impression that rosy reds were OK for turtles though and that guppies offerred little nutritional value. RRs are supposedly not good for African Clawed Frogs for that reason. Before I knew that, I used to feed my frogs rosy reds about twice a month and never saw any ill effects.
