Well, what a story i have for you all today... :) To start of let me begin by saying it's none stop rain in florida, especially Tampa. It has rained every day these past three weeks. Ok, with that said my mom woke up early today and went outside and saw a huge earthworm. About 5 in long, so she says to herself, "You know Tortarita would love that as a snack." She drops it in the tank and leaves for work around 8a.m. Me it's summer i wake up around noon. So I see NO earthworm, and for that matter had no clue about it. I go outside to get the mail and see a beautiful snail, with an awesome shell thats perfect. I drop it in the tank, in less then a second she's chewing off the shell like a mad dog!!  After that around 2 I go to petsmart to buy some rocks, a plant, and a few more guppies. Get home and drop two female guppies in the tank. She becomes an animal and starts swiming like a missile after them, she coners one and chows down.  Gezz, She ate a small snail and guppy today. Then I go eat at the dinner table and my mom brings up that she fed Tortarita a worm before going to work. I said "What??" In disbelief after dinner I simply go stare at Tortarita thinking where she puts it all. And wouldn't you know it she's eating the plant I put in the tank as if she's never been fed in her life. :? :)

Even as I'm typing now she's chasing around the other guppy like a cat chasing a mouse. And I feel so bad for the guppy now. lol But that was Tortarita's day today, acting like a Pig and Pigging OUT!!! :D

You might want to watch out with giving her things from your yard. Those animals/bugs/worms whatever can be filled with pesticides and things and it could really make Tortarita sick. Even if you don't spray anything on your yard, those things can come from anywhere.

True, I totally agree with you there untsmurf. And I'm at fault for that. Thing was my mom had no idea, which I'm having to explain that to her now. And i didn't know she would chow down on that poor snail. But trust me I'm putting a sign up saying, "Do not feed Animals!"

Thanks for the concern :-)

 no problemo. It's not really something you think about. But I know with Mikey, he munches on everything in the cage so I have to make sure it's all 100% safe before I put it in there, and I have to make sure I won't mind if he destroys it.

Mikey lives with three huge gold fish, two red minnows, a sunset dwarf molly, a tequila sunrise molly, one little spotted guppy type thing, and like ten or so fan tail guppies, and a pleco.

We got him fish for christmas thinking he'd eat them, and he gave up after a half hour of chasing them. So then we got a bunch of fancy fish for decoration, but then he ate those and left the ugly ones. Then a few days ago we got him a handful of red minnows (about 5) and he ate all but two.

The problem with fantail guppies is they mate like crazy! and they have no problem doing it in the temps that turts require. I bought what I thought was two boy guppies, now we have probably about 4 sets of babies, ten have survived to present day.

So basically, the same philosophy applies here, don't buy something you wouldn't mind your turtle eating.

WOW!!!! You have alot of other critters with Michelangelo! And he hasn't gotten any of them. Wow, well I felt so bad for the female guppy I placed her back in another tank with another female and male. The thing I'm kinda worried about is the female that has been in the tank with the male is I guess pregnant. She gave birth to one baby in the bag as I came from Petsmart but the other fish ate it. :-( And now I don't know if she's gonna give birth anymore?? As of now she hasn't the last one was around 4 and its about 10 where I'm at...:-( I was kinda hoping for a mess of babies!! :-)

Oh if you leave them there long enough you'll get them. I've noticed that they like to breed when they have lots of shelter from plants. I have a little corner of the tank with a bunch of plants in it and there are some lily pads that float over top of it, every time the fish had babies, the babies would only stay in that area until they were bigger. They also have this stuff I think it's called breeder grass or something, and it probably serves the same purpose. So if you really want a mess of them, set up an area like that, and if your fish are anything like mine were, i can guarantee quite a mess.

 good luck. They're definitely cool little fish, as the babies get older they get really pretty, I'm almost growing attached to them... but as soon as that happens Mikey will eat them
