Yeah, I have sand. Definitely wouldn't want him eating mouthfuls of sand to get some crappy sinking pellet. ;)

BTW, Squirt loves those frozen cubes, and the Hikari turtle sticks. 8)

I tried the exoterra and found them to be good as a variety. Mine didn't seem to sink until after about ten minutes. They do have alfalfa in them which according to websites I found have a good amount of calcium and vit E. Has anyone tried to feed alfalfa to their turt?

If someone has a turt that only eats pellets but is having a problem shedding, these might be helpful as a snack (like sweet potato).

I also found that the nutrafin has a vit E supplement added.

The Hikari has three different types of pellets. Crush seems to like the green (calcium) stick the most but will take any of them.

Comparing the different sticks I found that exoterra and nutrafin work well as a treat pellet (my turt gets them once a week) but I wouldn't use them daily.

i use reptomin mainly, but i have a small bottle of zoo med aquatic turtle food, there like small "balls" i guess you would say? looks like no one else uses them and i only give them to mine about twice a month....

EDIT: oh and my petsmart has the SAME slider set-up BUT blue gravel, no jungle vine type deal, AND theres 2 sidenecks in ther with about 4 painteds and about 4-5 RES....disgusting. oh, and maybe 2 inches of water. maybe.

Yeah I have thought about Zoo Med pellets before, but then I read the recall they had a long while ago where plastic shards were in the pellets. Yikes!

Ok Chris, I placed my order today. I also ordered some more Reptomin while I was at it. I'll let you know how long it takes to get delivered.

Sweet 8)

Update - I placed my order with TurtleStuff.com on 12/30 and it was shipped on 1/8 by USPS First Class mail. I just received the package today, 1/21. The USPS was EXTREMELY slow at delivering my package, but I got it, and I got what I ordered (1 lb of Mazuri and a 10.59 oz can of Reptomin). Now I am going to pick up a container tomorrow so I can make my super turtle pellet mix, yay!

Nice! Glad it went smoothly for you... slow... but smoothly :)

Thanks for reporting back, if I ever need more Mazuri, I will order from them again I s'pose lol. Although I don't think that will be anytime soon since I have a freaking pound of it. Just gave away about a 1/4lb to a fellow turtle keeper though tonight so maybe I'll go through it a little faster now :)

I want to try Hikari and Mazuri pellets now. Sam won't eat the Nutrifin stuff at all. He sniffs it... and moves on. He LOVES his Reptomin though, and his veggies :) Do you think Alfalfa sprouts would be good to give him? I might buy some next time I go to the store anyway, and I was wondering if I could share with Sam.
