Thanks Kurtni. Silvermist464 - goldfish aren't the best thing for RES to eat anyway. However, they will rip apart larger prey... it's not pleasant at all but it's very effective.

I think my turtle's still to small to think about that, the fish are fast to.. He's still not touching his food... I was planning on going to the store tomorrow.. Maybe I'll pick up some guppies..

You'll have to hold the fish by the tail and let it wiggle in front of his face.

He has food in his tank all day long.. in the end it just becomes snail food.. [I just got an apple snail for Skit's tank. It's a larger snail so I'm not afraid of it being eaten..] But I put Skit in with the fish earlier but he just swam around..

Did you try holding it by the tail? He needs an assist.

Wow, been so busy lately.. No he's not eating anything still.. I was wondering if it could have something to do with the fact he lived in the wild for almost 2 years.. Maybe his body's trying to hibernate like it would if he was still in the wild.. I live in northern Michigan, so it does get cold.. We've been having financial problems so I still have not gotten my hands on a water heater but I'm trying to keep his heat lamp on more during the day. Other than not, eating he's been active..

I was surprised when I looked up how big he should be in 1 year and I learned that he's probably just over 2 yrs. old....

Try putting him in some warm water. His body temperature needs to be higher, otherwise he won't feel like eating. Allow some time for it to adjust. The turtles can't self regulate body temps like humans, so whatever the water temp is what their body temp is, even more so when they are that size.

Thanks everyone! I woke up one morning and found him attempting to eat my snail. I quickly moved the snail out of the tank and into one of the fish tanks. Then, I got some food in the tank and Skit quickly gulped them up. I don't know why he wasn't eating... I'm just happy he is now. Maybe it was the change of the seasons. Before I got him, he was a wild turtle so that may have had something to do with it. He is starting to get his weight back! Thanks again.
