It's not really that the top of the shell is rising up, but that the individual plates of the shell are each rising up. For your turtle, is it the individual plates rising up (so that the shell looks lumpy) or is the overall shell a smooth dome shape?
I keep asking because when you say the top of his shell looks like a pyramid it sounds to me like you're talking about a normal dome shaped shell. Maybe I'm misunderstanding?
If you really are having pyramiding, you should just get your turtles nuitrition daily intake corrected as per the directions on this site. You can't correct pyramiding by putting your turtle on a diet. Instead, with good nuitrition, over time (years of time if the pyramiding is bad) the shell will look less and less lumpy. But it will take time.
