Feeding and Nutrition :: Dilemma on feeding turtles

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

My two turtles have healthy appetites, but Spazz hoovers all the food leaving Honu with very little. It is probably best to separate them for feeding, but I am concerned about the stress it will have on the turts.

I don't know which turtle to feed separately. I can't tell which turtle is more stressed by handling. Spazz tries to run away and flings herself against the tank. She is quite dramatic when she perceives a threat. Honu is quieter, recedes into his shell, and sinks to the bottom. He likes to hide. He will get agitated, but not as quickly as Spazz. I don't know which turtle would deal with daily container feedings better.

I think I'll put Spazz in the separate container to start. I don't think moving her will spoil her appetite. Anybody have tips on making this situation less stressful for my turt?

Thanks,

Caroline

Spazz, the food hog, should be better off in a separate container for feeding. The shy one probably wouldn't go for that.
