hi
my 1 1/2 inch res wont eat pellets

i have a heater in there and a filter
and the thermometer says 80 but the water is cool

how does 76-80 degree water feel on human hands, cool, little warm?

i ordered a basking light, which i havent had for 6 days

why is he not eating?

When I first got my RES, he wouldn't eat pellets, either. The trick is to just wait...when he gets hungry, he'll eat.

Might start him off with some baby shrimp or something, or soak the pellets in tuna fish. What I did was mix some of the pellets up with the baby shrimp, but only feed him the pellets, as some of their taste and smell would combine. That seemed to work for me.

Just keep trying.

Oh, and actually 80 degree water can feel cool to human hands, yeah.

i dont know, the under water thermometer says 80
and my turtle isnt moving alot eaither, but i think thats because hes new

If you're worried, perhaps you should pick up a second thermometer and compare the two. I mean, in the beginning I thought the water in my tank seemed cool, as well, but everything checks out.

You have to remember that your internal body temperature is about 97 degrees Fahrenheit, so 80 degrees is in actuality 17 degrees lower than what you'd feel on a normal basis. I gather, anyway.

cuz i dont have one, i just ordered it
