well... Nobody knows the nutritional value of a roach....blech..

Roaches should be avoided since they live in dirty, mucky places and are usually sprayed with pesticides.

People do breed roaches to be used as reptile food. The problem is that you have to order them online, and I think 100 count is the smallest # I have seen.

I've read that cockroaches may be fed to turtles. But would I feed one to my RES? ...no. :?

You never know where those things have been, and they're pretty nasty, anyway. Best to stay away, in my opinion.

Actually, cockroaches are supposed to be better for reptiles than crickets are. They're also easier to breed and supposedly are cleaner. I think the Hissing Cockroaches are the preferred species.

I've heard that roaches are quite good for reptiles. I think breeding them would be a lot cleaner than finding one somewhere, But just the thought of handling roaches, yuck

I agree. I too have heard of roaches being good reptile food. They are a bit more expensive, atleast from i've seen. And yes if you feed a roach to your turtle, buy one or breed some. Dont just take one out of your yard.
