Feeding and Nutrition :: Not Eating Anymore...

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I'd be surprised if one guppy caused such a change in his eating behavior. A bit of sardine now and then as part of the diet is OK. Rinse it off if there's oil on it (sardines packed in water are preferable). A diet of mostly Can 'o Shrimp and krill is really high protein and not that balanced.

Hatchlings/younger turtles do need a bit more protein for growth, but still need the nutrients that other foods provide as well (including plant matter). Have you tried leaving a strand or two of anachris (an aquatic plant you should be able to buy in an aquarium shop or petstore that sells fish) in the tank for him to nibble on? Try some of the live foods, particularly the earthworm (cut it into pieces if it's large).

Thanks for that valuable plant tip Marisa!
There is a pet shop that specializes in fish & ponds/aquariums (where I got the guppies) on my way home from work & will pick some up tomorrow & try it.
Plus the sardines were packed in water and I did wash the lil piece first.
From all i've read here, I do realize DA Grump needs other types of nutrition, but if he turns his nose up at it whats a MOM to do?
My son was alot easier to fool than this Grumpy Ol Turd!

It's important to start to get him to eat pellets. Once they get hooked, it would be hard to get them back to a "normal" diet.

Bloodworms????? Who woulda thunk it! Grumpy Ol Turd is eating like a champ again!
Stopped by the pet store after work & told my turtle woes to the young lady there.....she gave me 2 lil tabs of bloodworms to try & bless her heart! It did the trick!
Thanks one & all for the great suggestions & ideas....
