The best way to go about it is to be patient. You can withhold pellets for a day or two and see if they go after it but it will still take time for them to get used to it.

You might want to try different lettuce? Red leaf has that nice red edge that seems to attract attention. mine nibble off all the red edge first, which is really funny, but also good for them. If he doesn't go for that, perhaps some Anacharis? You can find this online through http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=780
or even ebay!

There are other veggies you can try, such as mustard leaves, leaves from radish,
collard greens, dandelions, cooked sweet potato, pumpkin and squash. Turtles can be picky eaters and may not like a certain veggie. My turtle hates carrots and pumpkin. I gave him dandelion yesterday and he snubbed it at first but when he saw I wasn't giving him anything else, he ate it all. Try feeding him only veggies for a day or two.

Turts can be stubborn, petulant, and generally cantankerous when it comes to eating the things that are good for them. Anyone on this forum who has kids knows full well that if you fed them McDonalds everyday then switched to a "veggie" diet would has a full blown insurrection on their hands....same with our little pals, they always want the things that they can't (or are not supposed to) have....and I must confess, sometimes, but not often, I do surrender....
