Feeding and Nutrition :: Paco still wont eat!!!

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I've found out that turtles can go for more than 3 weeks without eating. It can take several weeks for a new turtle to become used to his new environment. The stress caused by change can make them not eat. Since he has eaten a little bit, he shouldn't starve. I've also read that giving him dry cat food is okay once in a while, as long as the food has been rehydrated in water mixed with calcium powder (just enough water to rehydrate the food).

You should also establish a routine. At a specific time each day, put a few pellets in the water and walk away. When you come back, if the food is still there, take it out of the tank. He should get used to this routine and start eating.

Just remember that if the tank is not warm enough, turtles won't eat much.

Once a hatchling has absorbed its yolk sac, you should be getting it to eat regularly.

Is he in an area where there is a lot of activity? Some turtles are shy and need more of a quiet area for their tanks.

make sure u have a uv lamp

those really boost turtle activity and appetite by ALOT

also since its only a hatchling i'd actually give it a bigger tank (he migth feel uncomfortable and cramped, so he wont eat.) and little turtles are more carnivorous so i'd just keep feeding it meat and calcium pellets (the calcium will help it grow)

It's still extremely important for hatchlings to get the nutrients and vitamins from vegetables in their diet. An all protein diet isn't good for them so continuing to offer the veggies until they eat them is a necessity.
