Feeding and Nutrition :: Ghost Shrimp

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I wanted to get something to help with the clean up in the tank, so I got three ghost shrimp and a mystery snail. If they get eaten that's fine, though right now Mr. Turtle seems afraid of them haha. One was swimming in his direction and he high tailed it up to his rock! Anyway, I was just wondering if i should feed the shrimp? I don't feed Mr. Turtle in the tank so there are no food particles lying around, just poop - oh so much poop! - and very little algae. Is there something I should put in the tank so the shrimp don't starve?

I don't think they'll help much with clean up. I think you might have to feed them.... what kind of filter do you have?

The filter is an Eheim Pro3 2075. It keeps the water clear but there's still bits of poo that settle into the rocks. I figured the ghost shrimp would help break them down. I have no problem feeding them, just wasn't sure what they eat. Algae wafers maybe?

I think it's worth a shot. Could you direct the filter or a powerhead over the rocks?

Just about any fish food will do but keep in mind your turtle will eat it also.
