Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I was told to use silk worms as an appetizer because my turtle does not like to eat. But the turtle is a little hatchling and the silk worms were huge, do they nibble off of it or can i chop it up into littl epieces?

Are the silkworms live? They contain calcium, which is lacking in some other insects/bugs. I'd cut one up into small pieces if they're too big for your turtle to eat.

I've tried canned silkworms and they were nasty...My RES bit into one and the effect was like stepping on a puff ball (but in the water). They were not a popular food, and are one of the few canned insects that I've thrown soon after trying them.

You could also cut a live earthworm into pieces and see if your turtle goes for that. Most turts like things that wiggle.
