Feeding and Nutrition :: Feeding Veggies and Greens

HI Guys,

This site has been very helpful for me so far! Thanks a lot and I am glad I am a member!

Anyways, I was reading stuff here and I found that RES, even hatchlings, should be offered with veggies as well.

So far, I am feeding my turtle sanyu turtle feeds (quite low end but has been good with my old turtles) and anacharis water weeds. Is this enough? I want to feed my small 1.5inches res but I am not sure how. I mean, if I feed them carrots for instance, should I dice it into very small pieces and just let it sink in the water? How about if I want to feed them lettuce? How do I do that? chop and let it sink?

Last question (i have tons): Is chinese cabbage good for them too? Lettuce is quite expensive here in the Philippines.

I think pellets and anacharis is a good start. If you can't use lettuce everyday, that's OK too but you do want to try add a little variety. Just drop it into the tank to feed them. Chinese cabbage/bok choy isn't the best thing to give. As a part of the Brassica plant group, you'd want to keep it to a minimum. How you prepare the carrots is up to you... I sometimes use slices or sticks but avoid large, whole pieces and chunks.
