will they eventually go bad if kept in the freezer too long?
when i first got my turtles i gave them jello shots to kind of make sure they got everything they needed because i knew he had been a while without food and they were rescues but since then i feed them pellets and veggies and fruit and protein insects, so i havent given them jello shots in a cpl months ive only had them since december. (feels like years  )
so all the jello shots are in the freezer at the bottom i had two batches one for shedding and one for maintenance i guess, i was looking at it the other day and the maintenance ones were all soft and gross i threw them away but the shedding ones seem like they did in the beginning, im not sure but i feel like they wouldve gone bad by now. should i just throw it all away? or do jello shots not go bad?

I would say if they are in an airtight bag and look okay, they're fine. Don't know for sure though!

Mine have been frozen the entire time. My turtle seems to like them more frozen then thawed. I've been freezing mine in plastic containers and seems to be fine.

I freeze my jello shots. Though, I always make them in an ice cube tray and this time, once they were frozen, I popped them all out and put them in a bag instead (easier storage)... but now when I take one out to thaw, they always get super mushy. :( I think it has to do with frost that forms on them = extra moisture = mush.

Sheldon loves them frozen or not. I like how if they are frozen they float for a minute too.

As a chef:

Gelatin will degrade over time in the freezer (it takes 6+ months) and will turn to mush at room temperature after this period. (I can go into the whole long detail about why this happens if wanted).

Basically aslong as you are rotating fast enough, there will be no detrimental effects to either the gelatin or the food used in the shot by being frozen. I would not recommend serving anything with gelatine after the 6 month period, to humans it gets a slimy almost sour texture - I do not know how that translates to turtles, but I would imagine its not as pleasant ;)
