Feeding and Nutrition :: 3 days and not really eating

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So it's been about 3 days now and I still can't really get my RES to eat the sticks. I've caught it nibbling on them a bit here and there but it hasn't eaten a full one yet. I also had a guppie that was dying in there the other day and it seems to have disappeared overnight so I'm assuming my RES ate it. So do you guys think my slider will be ok? I don't know how much they have to eat a day and it seems like on every video and stuff the sliders swim to the food when its dropped in immediately.

Also, I don't have a thermometer yet but the water seems pretty warm, from the lamp I guess.

Ok, I'll try that again.

Also forgot to say it's crapped twice, so it must be eating something.

You should definitely cut the pellets in half.

Also, is your turtle brand new? If so, then it is actually normal for them to refuse food for a couple of weeks. If it really worries you, then you can dip the pellets in tuna juice, they'll love it.

Usually hatchlings are big on proteins, but, some tend to like romaine lettuce (both of mine sure did). Try giving a shell sized piece of romaine, and see what happens. Turtles usually snack on it throughout the day, and may carry it around for a while without eating it. Turtles generally don't like to eat in front of strangers.

I've been breaking the pellets in half and also in 3rds somethings, it's a bit harder since the are sinking or falling apart quicker but I think it's been snacking on them here and there.

It's brand new as in yes I just got it, had it for about 4 days, but I don't know how old it is. Maybe when it wakes up I can post a size comparison to a penny and someone can determine its age a bit.

I work at a grocery store so I'll try picking up some romaine lettuce. I also read up on that tuna juice thing, seems like it would work pretty good. I'll give them a try, thanks!

He's just a hatchling? Do try to find out the water temperature. Maybe get some live fish just to make sure he's eating a bit and healthy.

I tried feeding him guppies. I put 6 in the tank but they were so stupid they started beaching themselves so I had to take them out, they they started dying so I fed them to my brothers goldfish. I left one in the tank though overnight and it was gone in the morning so I'm guessing my turtle ate it.
