Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

My baby RES will snap at food pellets and try to get them in her mouth but is not able to, I have already tried to break them into smaller pieces but she seems to miss the pellet. Any suggestions I am concerned that she is not getting enough nutrition.

Let the pellets soak for a little bit then try them. They will be softened and easier to eat. Or get pellets for hatchlings.

Thanks guys I tried your suggestions and they seem to work, she will be in the container for a while though snapping at the pellet and looks like she snaps above or below the pellet but after about an hour went back and she managed to eat them all

how long have you had your turtle rsour24? What sort of diet does it have, I so far have just been feeding pellets and the occational treat which is whole dried shrimp or freeze dried gammarus. Would you suggest any other foods for them?

ive had my turtle for... im gonan say 4 months? i feed him pellets and cuttlebone mainly. he has guppies in the tank and 2 goldfish, but dont feed ur turtle goldfish, its bad for them, i found out after he ate like 8 it doesnt seem to have affected him but they r bad for him. minnows and guppies r ok. i also feed him lettuce. also in the tank is anarchis. i expected to not be able to keep fish and plants in the tank bc i thought he would eat all of it and start pyramiding but he usually doesnt eat besides what i give him. ive also fed him grapes. u have to cut them up bc the are too small to bite through the skin. u can give him carrots too either once a mouth or in small quantities. u can feed them other veggies but when they r younger their diet is mainly pellets. when they hit 3-4" its time to start to work out the pellets and make their diet mainly veggies
