Hi There

I recently read that you can feed your turtle cat food crunchies because it has all the nutritional requirements that turtle pellets have? Has anyone heard of this before?

Thanks

Umm NO, they aren't cats and really most cat food isn't even good for your cats.

Yup, wiccabrat pretty much summed it up. Cat (or dog) food is way too high in protein and fat, so it's no good even as a treat.

I've heard it before, though never believed it.

I fed mine some specially formulated dog/cat food that was prescribed by the vet. This was when they weren't eating and I had to use a syringe to force feed them.

Only acceptable food besides turtles pellets, are Koi pellets. They have pretty much the same nutrition as turtle pellets and cost a lot cheaper.
I personally ONLY feed mazuri fresh water turtle diet. It's costy but i purchase 25lb bags and usually sell some to members on other turtle sites for a reasonable price.
