That's OK. What about red and green leaf lettuce? They're more nutritious than romaine.

Romaine isn't the best lettuce, anyways. Try leaf lettuce like Bulldog said, and try butterhead too. Butterhead seems to have more flavor, and you can buy it with the roots attached, as a whole head, and leave it in water to stay fresh.

Red-leaf lettuce is more tender than romaine, and a smaller turtle would appreciate that (it also has a bit more nutrition). They're often attracted to the color as well.

Try using a veggie clip to anchor the lettuce. Also, try some aquatic plants since they can stay in your tank.

My little guy will only eat romaine if he is "starving". He loves red leaf but lately they have only had green so he eats it but he won't beg for it. Try different types. My guy is pretty particular when it comes to greens and I don't think that is uncommon.

at a vegetable-full non-chain grocery store near me (Guintas Meat Farms) i found mustard greens and though i couldnt get them to last very long -- maybe because theyd been there awhile -- my RES was all about them. if romaine isn't appealing, try a sampling of the others approved for them. maybe theyll be a big fan of something else :)

goodluck!

My two RES love anacharis. They will devour it. I occasionally give they some small pieces of cooked shrimp or fish.

Mine like Dandelion greens to and almost all stores carry them. Just keep trying till you find what he likes. Do you like everything your parents eat?
