I got this big box of Zoo Med Repti calcium powder and don’t know what to do with it. I tried sprinkling them on her veggies but once they’re in the water, the powder just simply floats off.

So, here’s what I did. Take about 20 ReptoMin sticks, wrap them in cling film. Then use a spoon to grind them down to powder. Add in one teaspoonful of calcium powder. I also add in a bit of multi vitamins. Mix them together real well. Then, add a few drops of water and knead them together. The trick is, add very little water, just enough to bind them together, otherwise, they will turn out too soft. I then made them into stick forms and leave them (I made about 5) to dry. Since, these stuffs won’t float, I hand feed them with a pair of tongs. If your turt don’t mind sinking pallets, you can just drop them into the water. They could last quite a while before they melt. Just remember, use very little water to mix the ingredients together and let them dry properly before feeding.

OK, I just feed them to my turt. She loves it!!! My turt is 3 pounds, according to the feeding instruction, she needs about 5 teaspoons of calcium powder per week. As she would get calcium from her veggies as well, I figured I’d just give her 3-4 teaspoons per week. If I feed her 3 times a week, she should be able to get the vitamin supplements and the calcium she needs.

Give it a try guys, I think your turts would love it too!

I've been told that 3 teaspoons are way too much for my turt. So, if you guys are going to make these stuff, remember to watch the amount of calcium powder you put in.

could you get the same effect by taking cuttle bone and powdering it?

That's a ton of work imo.

a small mortar and pestle (you know, the same kind you can use for grinding herbs and stuff) makes it rather easy if you break the bone in half after taking the backing off.
