My RES is a little over a year and is staying at my sisters till i find a place to live. Her son who is about 7 thought he needed to eat so fed him this morning. The problem is he dumped about 40 repto mini sticks in, 20 zoo med pellets and a whole jar of zoo med turtle treats. I have no clue how much he ate of it since i just got here to clean his cage. Is this not going to be good for him? cause I'm sure he ate that whole jar of dried krill. Any sugjestions on what i should look out for?

Over a year, so he gets protein every OTHER day now. I would recommend giving him some good fiber like lettuce and skipping his protein for probably about 2-3 days. Just feed him lettuce every day.

Don't worry too much, it's no worse than your turtle scarfing down a dozen fish at once. As long as he doesn't eat that much every day, there should be no ill effects.

He may end up with a tummy ache, though, so be on the watch for vomit.

yeah i only feed him pellets every other few days and he on a veggie diet. I just could imagine that a whole jar of turtle treats is gonna make him feel good, but I keep a eye on him. Thank you

Ha i see this is your first encounter with little kids and turtles. My niece and nephew 3 and 4, think its great to open up all the pet food cans,(reptomin pellets, reptomin krill and reptomin shrimp, fish flakes, sinking frog food) and dump it all in there, just make sure its cleaned good, and feed veggies for a few days are directed previously, they should b cool

I remember when I was little, I always feed my sliders too much cause I don't know anything to take care of them, I don't remember what happened to my sliders, but I'm guessing they died or ran away from home
