Feeding and Nutrition :: How to sink cuttlebone?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Crush has recently decided that the only floating thing he will eat his his pellets. Since he does love his calcium, I need to find a way to sink it. The only thing he likes in his clips is his aquatic plants but not his veggies.

So help anyone?

It'll sink on it's own after a few days. Chunks will sink faster than a whole bone. If you want, you can pre-soak a couple chunks for a few hours before you give it to him, but if you just stick them in there, they'll eventually sink.

like bulldog said.

and if you think the cuttlebone will evaporate on its own, it takes a long while. pieces of cuttlebone are still visible in my tank from a week ago haha.

Oh he'll eat it long before it evaporates just when it floats he gets VERY mad at it and gives up, haha.

Spot likes to have his cuttlebone attached to the wall of the tank with a veggie clip. That makes it easier for him to get a good bite.

maybe if you tie a heavy object to the whole bone and anchor it until it absorbs enough water to sink, then take of the anchor.
