Hey i ran out of turtle pellets the other day :(
and since then i have been feeding my 2 turtles just fish flakes
I hope that is ok.. (its only been a couple days)
i know it really isn't probably filling for them but that is the only thing i could think of..
but today i had an idea of feeding them my dogs' food

Is that ok??

My vet tells me that occasional treats of dog food are ok. When are you getting more pellets? You may have to soak the dog food for a bit so it's easier to eat (assuming you're talking about dry dog food here)

If you're getting pellets tomorrow, just give them some lettuce or something for today. They can go a lot longer than that with no food.

If you ever run out again and need a few days before making it to the store, you should give them an alternative protein source, like boiled egg, shrimp, fish, or chicken, every couple days, just a small piece, and as much veggies as they want. I would never recommend dog food unless you are buying some HIGH quality dog food. Have you ever looked at what's in that stuff?!? (I've got cats, some of the cat foods available at the pet stores are complete garbage, we're actually buying super high quality food now at specialty stores for a pretty penny, and even that, I'd be skeptical about feeding the turtle.)
