Feeding and Nutrition :: Red/green leaf VS Romaine

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Post Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 12:36 am   Red/green leaf VS Romaine

I am just wondering why Romaine lettuce is listed under Moderate(Limited Usage) while Red/green leaf lettuce is listed as a Beneficial and recommended(staple food)?

What I am really looking for is what is the nutrition difference that makes Romaine belong on the Moderate list?

Thanks.

romaine lettuce is mostly water and plant cells and doesn't have much nutritional value. Redleaf has a lot more nutritional value and vitamins and stuff like that.

Yup, just what Tenodera said.
It's actually kind of interesting to compare them.

Romaine is still good. It probably doesn't deserve to be under a "Moderate" label, however red leaf and green leaf are preferable over it.

Thanks!

I thought there might have been something in romaine that should not be fed everyday. In the future, I'll grab red/green leaf instead.
