:?:
i just got a butter squash and am not sure if I should boil it first for a little bit, or give it to Hurley raw. I did offer him a raw piece and he tried to bite down on it, and barely got a sliver of it. Then he spat out the rest and gave up.

We really want to vary his diet and feed him the best we can, but he is just being so picky.

We are also trying him on a new green diet of Turnip GREENS. He is being VERY picky and not eating his greens so I thought it may have been because he wants variety or something. Wish us luck that he eats these greens.

I also put a veggie mix in a little tupper ware. I have blue berries, shredded carrots, raw squash (will stay if that how to feed it), and sliced cherry tomatoes. Is this a nice mix for him to get every other day? It will just be a few pieces of each as nutrition and snack.

Also, his tank mates (3 large feeder gold fish) and two juvenile mollies are in love with his greens. We had a piece of red leaf lettuce in there and they shredded that thing. Should I take Hurley out of his tank and try to feed him in his rubbermade container so the fish don't steal all the greens? Obviously I can't do this till he shows interest in the greens, but could it work?

Thanks for any help you can give. We want the best for our big boy :)

How old is Hurley? He might not be receptive towards veggies just yet. As for that type of squash, I'd probably act like it's sweet potato and give it a buzz in the microwave. And I wouldn't keep all of those veggies/fruits together, the blueberries will probably cause the carrots to get squishy faster, the squash will definitely add moisture.

When I give squash, I usually slice off thin strips with a peeler, then put them in a bit of water and nuke them for a minute or less.
