Feeding and Nutrition :: Anarchis?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Is this the regular anarchis that turtles like and the ones that you can get in stores? I found it on http://www.azgardens.com and was thinking about getting it. http://www.azgardens.com/images/4bunch1.jpg

This is what it said about it- a.k.a. Elodea (Egaria densa) this plant not usually sold as lead-weighted, only rubber-banded.

And it is native from south america/world wide.

Should i get this one for my turtles? Or any other suggestions of plants that i should get that they would like?? Thanks!

There's a list of the recommended aquatic plants on RES basic care. And it's hard to tell from that pic if it's the same it looks right though, the anacharis I use looks like this:

The scientific name is correct though, Egeria Densa.

Sure, go ahead and get some.

Be sure and rinse it off in the sink real well before you put it in the tank, and remove the rubber band. You don't want your turtle eating rubber bands!

Yes, it is the same thing. I would ask the people selling it to be sure that they don't use any pesticides. Turtles are very sensitive to a wide range of chemicals, so I would be sure. There are several from ebay that I have asked about, and I know they are ok. I have a list somewhere that I will re post.

The last is the seller I have bought Anacharis from most. Super healthy long beautiful strands!

I have always bought Duckweed from the seller above. Good stuff!

Definitely get anacharis! The baby RES's totally love playing in it as well as eating it.

I would buy it for my adult RES, but then she would honestly never stop eating. :roll:

That's it. The pic you posted looks exactly like some that I bought in a Petco.
