Krill is ok but high in protien...if they are teeny...try baby retoptomin pellets (only a couple pellets if they are small and occasional baby shrimp) Also ALWAYS put some red leaf lettuce in the tank NEW daily for them to learn to eat. :) Krill should only be used for treats!

And as for the hind legs...most on here call that the "superman" pose! Its just a relaxing position for them. Most all do it! They must be warm and calm when you see them doing that!

By the way, welcome to the forum! You may wanna read to RES BASIC CARE section if you are a NEW Res owner. It helps ALOT! Then if you have any other questions...someone is always here! :)

Cute names; Lily and Lola! (hope they are girls) You wont be able to tell until they are 4 inches long though...:)

Here's some info on turtle nuitrition including a link to a discussion of how to entice your turtle to eat what's good for him/her.

http://www.redearslider.com/index_nutrition.html

Some turtles prefer one brand of pellets over another. If your turtles don't like the pellets you are offering you might try another brand. What Camee mentioned - reptomin - is an excellent brand.

And welcome to the forum!
