Feeding and Nutrition :: Baytril and appetite

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I have seen online that baytril will reduce a turtles appetite. Since my turtle is still not eating are there any soft foods I can give him with the medicine? He is plenty active and I just want to make sure he does not have any problems from not eating.

Thanks,
Steve

You can entice him to eat with something like tuna, most turtles find that irresistable.

I tried tuna before I started giving him meds and he would not eat it. I might try some tomarrow and see if he takes to it. He still has the minnows in his tank also.

My turtle loves fresh shrimp above all. I've also heard that some turtles will do anything for a little canned cat food.

What form is the Baytril in? Injection? Liquid? Pill?

Fresh, live earthworms are a HUGE turtle favorite too. You can dig them fresh, under a rock, in your garden. :)

The baytril is liquid form. On another note the minnows love the food dipped in tuna water. As I am writing this he just started chasing a minnow....it got away. Goning to go to get some earthworms and shrimp and see what happens. I'll post back later.

Some have mentioned injecting it into an earth worm. Did the vet give you more specific directions?
