i just got a new res yesterday. i tried to feed it yesterday but it wouldnt eat. again i tried pellets today. still wont eat. so i got some small crickets. he looked at the crickets, went for them, and then turned around. he is about 4 in. should i be worried?

Don't worry, it just needs some time to settle.

Keep offering the little guy food if he doesn't eat it, then take it out. He should settle in and build up an appetite in a few days.

They take time to settles. Try soaking the pellets in tuna juice if he continues.

Congratulations on your new family member!

Turtles are very sensitive to big changes like a new home. It may take him a week to start eating and even longer before he really settles in. During that time give him peace and quiet and privacy to help him calm down. Keep offering him good food and remove from the tank what he doesn't eat so it doesn't spoil in there.

Have you read up on all the things to do with a new turtle? There's a lot of good info on this site to give you guidance. After you've done your reading you'll probably have questions - then come on back and we'll do our best to help.
