Habitat - Outdoor :: Heater for a small outdoor pond

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

I just built an outdoor habitat for my RES. It has a small pond and some land. I live in southern Texas so the summers are plenty warm enough, but I am worried about the winter here. Temps can get into the 30's here and there. I have my heater from his tank i kept inside, but I need a small heater for my pond. It is only about 30 gallons.
Any recommendations for a heater, since I cannot use the one from his tank since it is only for indoor use. All I can seem to find are De-icers and not actual heaters for outdoor use.

Not going to have many options there.
How about before it gets cold make an insulated cover to go over the whole setup and cut an opening above the water area . Place a outdoor weather proof fixture ( grounded )with a heat lamp. Wattage will depend on how cold it gets.

Best thing is to home him inside during cold winter nights.

Yea I have not had much luck looking for an outdoor heater. They advertise pond heaters but then give you instructions to use them in a tank.
I have a while to figure it out, still in the 90s here lol.
Thanks for the idea!

Do you have a garage? Some people just throw in a stock tank for winters.

Thats a good idea. I have a 50 gallon tank still so I can just fill it up and use it during the cold days.
Thank you!
