I found a 500 gal 8' wide pool at Wal-Mart for $20. It is one of those kids pools with the flimsy side and is made of flexible plastic. I'm currently filling it up with the garden hose (taking a while, lol). I will take pics of it in a few. Toku's hard plastic pool cracked during the winter. For $20 I will give it a try. The bottom is thin but I don't think Toku can rip it. If he does, it cost $20, so I won't be horrible upset.
It definitely gives plenty of swimming room. Toku was in it all day today, I just put him back in his tank. I cleaned the cichlid tank today, will take a pic later. I'm going to clean Toku's old filter tomorrow when I put him back outside. I will try to get a pic with him in the pool to show how big it really is in comparison.
I was thinking about that when filling it. I'm thinking maybe a filter system on the low budget end, so I can keep it full all summer and the. Drain it when temps drop for the winter. Got any ideas how I can filter this pool?
Not really, though it would be cool to experiment with a 5 gallon bucket. I'f he's not going to be in there 24/7, I'd throw in some plants and fish and net out any junk before Tuko goes in there. Maybe a powerhead to give a bit of circulation.
Unfortunately I'm not home for the summer but I go back every 2 weeks to top off the tanks and refill the feeders. I won't be back for more than a day or two till the end of August.
