Hello everyone, it was been a very long time since I visited but I am back for now. My question I have is that I bought a tetra pond filter 2500 for my turtles recently but I am afraid it might be too big, I am in the process of buying a 300-500 gallon stock tank and am wondering if this filter will be fine or should I exchange it for the smaller tetra pond 1500 model?

You can't really over filter the water. The negatives of having too large of a filter are: they take up more space, larger pumps will consume more power, and you may have too much flow from the pump.

The positives of an oversized filter are: water stays cleaner longer, less frequent maintenance, the larger filter can be used on a larger stock tank should you decide to upgrade later.

Too much flow can be addressed by adding a very inexpensive valve to the outflow of the pump. These valves are available at any hardware store. As for the size and power consumption... those are really the deciding factors.
