We have about a 300 gallon pond with our two res *they're about the size of a palm* We have a laguna max flo 900 pump in there and a homemade skippy filter... before we built the fence around the pound and moved the turtles the neighbors dogs were always in the pond and drug sooo much dirt in there... the water cleared over night with the filter and pump but now that the turtles have been moved in the water is back to being nasty murky from all the dirt being kicked up. What is the best type of media to put in our filter to get the water back to clear?

Since you know the water is murky from the dirt, it's mechanical filtration that would trap the dirt. Usually filter floss (pillow stuffing) would be used for water polishing, but in your case that would just clog quickly. Coarse foam sponge might help but would also probably clog.

Have you considered a layer of sand at the bottom? The sand will keep any dirt trapped under it and the water will stay much more clear if the turtles kick up a little sand than dirt. The sand settles back to the bottom very quickly.
