Habitat - Outdoor :: My turtle escaped

Ponds and other outdoor enclosures.

My 7 year old Red Ear Slider somehow escaped from her pond enclosure. I am heart broken. There is a pond not far from my house. My question: Do turtles have a sense of where they can find water? My only hope is that she made it to the pond and may have a chance at life there.

I would also not give up. Keep looking everywhere, then look again. http://www.redearslider.com/lost_turtle.html

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I sure wish I would have known about the pedialyte tip. My turtle was out of the water and living in someone's living room for months before she gave it to me. It looked very dehydrated to my uneducated eye so I immediately put it into the only thing I had--an empty 10 gallon tank. I think it came out okay--but had I any inkling about the pedialyte--I would have been on it.
