to heat or not to heat?

I live in northern CA close to Sacramento and I'm planning to build a habitat for my turtles that includes a 4 foot deep pool that is 20 foot in diameter. The pool in about 7,500 gallons.I was thinking about using one of those solar pool heaters for the winter and bypassing it in the summer. Will this be good or bad?there are wild RES in this area so Im sure theres a way I can keep them outdoors year round.

I don't think you'll need it with that size pond. Have you posted pictures of it? Sounds great...

They'll be fine.

How large are the RES. Don't expect them to be very active in the cooler months.

ya something to heat that much water would run you a few hundred bucks EASY. if i were you I would go to like walmart and get one of those big pool filters and maybe one of those little things that run along the bottom of built in pools and stuck up all the debres on the floor. would be cool. pictures would be sweet aswell!

had almost the same thing for my turtles but outside so they could get all that good sun :D

ponds liek this are so fun because they are easy to set up, easy to take down and clean and move, and FUN to decorate! great to add fish too because its so big the turtles usually have hard times catching anything in there. and you can easily add like 60 different fish in that pool there. I had LOADS of cichlids, algae eaters, gold fish, minnows, angel fish, allll sorts of stuff in mine.
