Yeah I'd like to get one more if possible and I think they are for sandboxes but works great for turtles :D

About 4 inches id say, I don't want to fill it up too much because i lost the top and I don't have anything to block the sides and my big male RES tries to get out all day lol the others i don't have to worry about

Yep thats the most difficult thing in my opinion having to worry about a turtle escaping when they are in an outdoor setup

Are you watching the temperature at all?

There needs to be a shaded area. Also, the box is small and the water level is shallow. The water is going to heat up very quickly in the sun.

dont really need to. I live out in the desert so I usually cover half of it with something for shade and leave half in the sun. It gets very hot out here but not hot enouph to make the water SUPER hot ... so they get some good sun...and its warm at nights here too so the water is usually pretty nice and not cold.

I do make a shade area and the water is deeper then it looks. and the pool does look small in pictures but its pretty big for a small pool..

I've see those sand boxes at Toys 'r Us and at tag sales. They are not very deep. And on a summer day in the sun, the water is going to heat up quickly

Yeah I know :P It dont get that hot as of yet tho but then again were not in the middle of summer yet, im sure it will get alot hotter soon. Any ideas what I should use to make it a little better for them for shade? right now I just put like this cot thing over half the pool and it seems to work pretty good.

Also what should I do about filling it more but not letting them get out? like some wire fencing around the pool its self and fill it all the way up with water?

Well you have to find a spot, like off the house where the shade stays on it half the day to keep the temperature down. Thats what i do for my hatchling containers outside.

I would staple the chicken wire across half of it and that stays there perm. The other half just put bricks on other half to hold it down so you can get in there.

You have a lot of turtles in a small area and many different sizes. This is really dangerous for those smaller turtles especially. You probably really love them so you should at least separate the larger ones from the smaller ones or you will probably be sorry. Also, be very careful of the heat. It is surprising how fast they can heat up. Good luck with them!

I completely agree with Pam. Each turtle carries it's own responsibilities, it's not easy keeping multiple RES!
