I'm wanting to make a portable outdoor play pen for my boys. I'm thinking a large rough tot with sand in it.
I'd also put in a shallow water dish for them to drink and get wet plus a hiding box. How does this sound to you guys?
Which would be better sand or potting soil?

Probably a mixture of sand and soil would be best. I'd say its more important that you have a good way of regulating the temperature in the container.

Anyway you can use grass? It stays much cooler compared to sand or dirt.
