Does anyone have the ScareCrow Automatic pest detterent system set up?

If so how do you approach your pond without getting sprayed?

If anyone is unfamiliar with the ScareCrow it is a automatic motion detected sprinkler that sprays water on intruders, you set it up to cover an area, and when a trespasser comes into the vicinity it blasts water like a sprinkler to deter the animal from coming in. People use it to guard their gardens, but i want to put one by my pond so my turtles don't become dinner for a nocturnal critter.

Heres a link to the website.

On the left side of the page it says, Demontrations. Click that and watch the videos its great.

Ooooo.....this is interesting. Thanks for the link. If I can figure out how to position one so it could detect a hungry raccoon, I'm going to get one.

It apparently detects infra red in its line of sight, so if you came up behind it, you could turn the sensitivity to zero. Or, you could turn off the water.

Yah i think im going to get one for my new outdoor pond, its quite amusing. In your case spotsmamma judging by the pictures i saw of your pond you could put it right in front of your pond in the ground, or you might by able to put it up on top of the rock wall around your pond somehow. There is also another maker of this product. HavaHart makes a similar product. I believe its a little bit cheaper also.

I have seen this in the pond supply section at Petsmart and often wondered about it.

It seems like a good idea, and if all else fails i think it would be amusing to watch, animals get harmlessly sprayed. Ha I hope it will also keep my neice and nephew away from my pond :)

I've been thinking of using those when I set up my pond.
I've also thought of getting one just because of the neighbourhood cats that keep leaving me "gifts" in my yard.
